PBM 203, Specialty Medical Management, is designed for those who are familiar with basic features of pharmacy benefit management (e.g., types of prescription drugs and cost-sharing designs).  It also assumes familiarity with the basic features of specialty medications and their management (e.g., dispensing channels and REMS).

This course covers 5 learning objectives:
Identify utilization and cost components that make specialty drug management important
 Discuss key differences in the administration of specialty drugs under the pharmacy and medical benefits
 Explain differences in utilization and cost by site of care and how plans influence use of the various channels
 Discuss common cost sharing arrangements for the management of specialty drugs under the medical benefit
 Describe the elements of a clinical utilization program and how they are used to promote cost-efficient quality care
