2020 National Conference Overview

Educating, Connecting, Sharing

Excitement is building for our 25th Anniversary Conference event on March 2-4, 2020. This celebratory meeting will be held at the Rosen Shingle Creek Hotel in Orlando, Florida. For two and a half decades, PBMI has been committed to providing an open forum for the exchange of ideas, advance practices, and drive appropriate changes in the pharmacy benefit management landscape. It’s evident that healthcare is changing, and pharmacy management will continue to play a pivotal role in the years ahead to drive change. Each year, our conference brings industry thought leaders to educate attendees on hot topics/strategies influencing the marketplace.

The meeting will kick off with a compelling keynote presentation by Barry Meier, Pulitzer Prize-winning former reporter for The New York Times and author of several books. Most recently he published, “Pain Killer: An Empire of Deceit and the Origin of America's Opioid Epidemic.” According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, 130 people die due to an opioid overdose each day. During this presentation we’ll hear Mr. Meier’s perspective on the opioid crisis in America today. We know you will enjoy his presentation.

The remaining lineup of speakers includes some of our conference favorites: George Hill (Deutsche Bank), Doug Long (IQVIA), Dr. Steve Pearson (ICER), and Dr. Steve Miller (Cigna). Attendees can customize their conference experience and select from 20 breakout sessions and eight general sessions. Check out our confirmed speakers.

Attendees will enjoy several networking events to connect with peers, meet vendors ready to share their innovative solutions, and establish new relationships. Make plans now to attend and stay tuned for more details.

Networking Events

Be sure to join us at our evening networking receptions.  At the end of Day One and Day Two, everyone meets up in the Exhibit Hall to visit with vendors, make connections with other attendees, and catch up with industry peers.

Excellence Award Ceremony

Next year marks our fifth year recognizing organizations for excellence in the areas of cost containment, care management, quality improvement, and opioid management strategies. PBMI's Excellence Awards are among the highest honors given in the PBM industry to acknowledge best-in-class and innovative strategies in managing the drug benefit. An Awards Ceremony will take place on Tuesday, March 3, 2020.
