MCOs’ Guide to HIV/AIDS Drug Therapies

PBMI’s research report, The MCOs’ Guide to HIV/AIDS Drug Therapies, focuses on the prescription drugs included in U.S. Department of Health and Human Services guidelines and the important role of pharmacy care in effective treatment of the disease.

This therapeutic area is an important case study to 1) illustrate the value of drug therapies to increase life expectancy and minimize disease acuity, and 2) highlight the importance of developing ways to increase patient adherence to prescribed medications.

PBMI gratefully acknowledges the support of Gilead Sciences Inc. (Gilead) for the provision of an unrestricted grant to research and produce this report. Gilead was not involved in conducting any of the research interviews. This ensures the independence and objectivity of the research findings. Gilead does not endorse nor support the strategies and approaches described in the report’s Marketplace Examples.
